Hi,
I’m looking for some help with my 2021 Jeep Compass Night Eagle 1.4 MultiAir petrol, currently on around 73,000 miles.
The car has a misfire and is using approximately 1 litre of oil per 1,000 miles.
It has previously been checked by Alexander’s Jeep and they’ve now confirmed that the 72k service and timing belt are due on mileage. They’ve quoted £1,440 for the full 72k service, timing belt and water pump.
However, because of the misfire and oil consumption, they’ve advised that these issues need to be investigated before carrying out the service and timing belt, as there could potentially be an internal engine issue.
They have mentioned that if there is no sign of an external oil leak, an engine strip-down may be required. Before committing to that, I’m trying to find out whether the misfire and oil consumption can be properly diagnosed first and what testing would be recommended.
Unfortunately, Alexander’s can’t get me booked in until November. I rely heavily on the car and currently do over 450 miles a week, so with the timing belt already due on mileage I’m keen to get this looked at as soon as possible.
Ideally I’m looking for somewhere that can deal with the whole issue – diagnose the misfire and oil consumption first and, assuming the engine is OK or the fault can be repaired, then carry out the 72k service, timing belt and water pump.
Could you please let me know if this is something you can take on, whether you have experience with the 1.4 MultiAir engine and the correct tooling for the timing belt, your earliest availability and the approximate initial diagnostic cost?
